Plastic Stockist provides a great range of Duratron PBI plastic , previously known as Celazole PBI which offers the highest temperature resistance and best mechanical property retention over 200°C, of all unfilled thermoplastics. Duratron PBI is very 'clean' in terms of ionic impurity and does not outgas (except water). These characteristics make this material extremely attractive to high-tech industries such as semiconductor and aerospace industries. Usually Duratron PBI is used in critical components to decrease maintenance costs and to gain valuable production 'uptime'. It is used to replace metals and ceramics in pump components, valve seats (high tech valves) bearings, rollers, high temperature insulators.

Common uses for Duratron PBI

Duratron PBI is commonly used for high heat insulator bushings as there was a need for a material that could endure the high temperatures but did not stick to the finished moulded parts. The benefits are that Duratron PBI is unique in its ease of clean up in hot runner systems. Moulded parts do not stick to Duratron during their 'freeze' cycle in the mould. This plastic is also used for vacuum cups for a more cost-effective solution for an extremely high temperature glass handling application. Duratron PBI outperformed prior materials and reduced the component cost.
